Nolan Flowers, the former network administrator for the Texas A&M Department of Computer Science, was welcomed to the College of Architecture staff this week as director of information technology.
He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from Texas A&M.
Flowers' arrival marks the first of several staff and procedural enhancements planned for the college’s IT environment.
“Nolan’s mission is to be a really good customer service advocate for faculty, staff, and students,” said Elton Abbott, chairman of the college’s Information Technology Committee. “I think he’s going to be perfect for the job.”
Among Flowers' first priorities will be participating in the recruitment and hiring of a new server administrator and Web administrator for the College of Architecture.
“The college’s Web presence is everywhere, and although we’re in a steady state with the servers,” Flowers said, “we can’t move forward without a Web administrator.”
Mac users will likely be happy to hear that Flowers is proficient in both Windows and Mac operating systems.
“Macs are great machines,” said Flowers. “They’re very stable. It’s a solid, robust operating system.”
