McLaughlin talks to The Batt about
monkeys and Viz department

In a June 12 profile by The Battalion, Tim McLaughlin, head of Texas A&M University’s Department of Visualization, talked about his special-effects work in big-budget movies such as “Jumanji” and “Eragon” as well as the mission of the Viz department.

McLaughlin, who animated the monkeys that terrorize a city in “Jumanji,” began as the Viz department head last fall.

"Our goal is to communicate through imagery," McLaughlin said. "The key issue that we tackle in each example is how to manipulate the technology and how to create and organize the visual experience to effectively communicate,” he told the Battalioin.
