Ph.D. student appointed to national
planning board executive committee

Ed Tarlton, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science at Texas A&M, has been appointed as a student representative to the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning executive committee.

Tarlton, whose studies emphasize housing and community development, will be representing the College of Architecture in the ACSP's Planners of Color Interest Group.

"We were very impressed by your letter of application, as well as the endorsement from your advisor, Shannon van Zandt," wrote June Thomas, POCIG co-chair. "We look forward to including you in all upcoming activities of the executive committee," she said. Van Zandt is an assistant professor of urban planning.

The POCIG's mission is to advance the interest and concerns of people and communities of color in the planning field in academia and professionally. The group began meeting in 2008.
