Former student elevated to partner
at prestigious New York design firm

Nestor Bottino '77 BED has been elevated to partner with Holzman Moss Bottino Architecture, a national architectural and interior design firm based in New York.

“My own experience ensuring that the implementation remains true to the design intent established with each project, coupled with a shared commitment to respecting programs, budgets, contexts and environmental concerns, Bottino said, “enhances our ability to create distinctive buildings that provide a memorable experience and lasting value to the institutions, communities and individuals who use them.”

Bottino joined the firm in 2008, bringing more than 27 years of experience working primarily with institutional clients in every phase of the design and execution of academic and civic libraries, civic buildings and student life facilities.

Included among HMBA’s most recent university-based projects are the Hylton Performing Arts Center at George Mason University, Manassas, Va., opening Spring 2010; phase I of the Center for the Arts at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, opening 2012; and the Western Connecticut State University Visual and Performing Arts Center in Danbury, Conn., opening in 2013.

Bottino has taught performing arts-focused design studios at Texas A&M, the University of Texas at Austin, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He maintains a commitment to architectural education, including actively mentoring the firm’s younger staff.

A former partner of Bottino Grund Architects, and a former principal of Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates, Bottino has served on the AIA’s Architectural Graphic Standards Editorial Board, on several design award juries including for the AIA’s Corpus Christi and San Antonio chapters, and has lectured widely on a variety of design topics at universities and AIA conventions.
