Former student’s firm wins two
AIA restaurant design awards

Los Angeles-based Kelly Architects, headed by firm president George Kelly, a 1986 Bachelor of Environmental Design graduate from Texas A&M’s College of Architecture, won two prizes at the 2008 American Institute of Architects’ Restaurant Design Awards.

The firm won the Award for Excellence in Restaurant Design and the People’s Choice Award for their work at Osteria Mozza, a new Italian food restaurant in Hollywood.

“We would like to personally thank the team at Mozza that gave Kelly Architects the opportunity to be part of such a tremendous project,” said a Kelly Architects press release.  “These awards were made possible by the collaborative efforts of many talented people that deserve to be recognized.”

“(It) might be the hardest reservation in town right now,” said Los Angeles Times writer in a review, adding that it’s a very urban and high-spirited restaurant.
