Brandon Berdoll was elected the Associated General Contractors Gene Murphree Construction Science Outstanding Undergraduate in the August 2007 graduation class.
Since graduating with a bachelor’s degree in construction science, Berdoll has joined his family’s pecan business, which is located between Bastrop and Austin, Texas.
“I plan to use the knowledge that I gained while in construction science,” he said, “to build a state-of-the-art pecan grading facility and several new buildings for our business.”
Berdoll was born in Austin and was raised along with his sisters, Kylene and Jennifer, in Cedar Creek, just southeast of Austin.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed attending Texas A&M and majoring in construction science,” he said. “While at A&M I was provided access to tremendous amounts of information and surrounded by many knowledgeable professors.”
The AGC award is named for Samuel E. “Gene” Murphree, who graduated from Texas A&M in 1945. Murphree founded Gene Murphree Corporation General Contractor in 1954 and served as CEO until retiring in 1986. Before his death in 2003, he served as the AGC’s national director, as president of AGC’s Houston chapter, and as director of 11 commercial banks.
