BED student selected as Aggie
band’s first female drum major

Samantha Kropp, a junior in the Bachelor of Environmental Design program at Texas A&M’s Department of Architecture, will help lead the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band on the football field this fall as the first female drum major in the band’s history.

“It is really amazing to be picked as drum major for the Aggie band, said Kropp. “I am excited to serve the band and lead them to another great drill season.”

“I hope … people can see that no matter what gender you are, anybody can be a good leader," Kropp told KBTX television.

She’s heard that some aren’t happy about her selection.

"To me it doesn't really matter what anybody thinks,” she said. “The only people I'm looking for respect from are people I'm leading. That's all I care about," she said.
