James Robert Souza January, a Texas A&M construction science student who was scheduled to graduate this May, died in a automobile accident Feb. 19.
Funeral services were held Feb. 26 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel in Austin.
“James was my best friend at Texas A&M University,” wrote fellow construction science major George Lara-Maya in an online memory book. “He was a loving individual who always found the best assets of people. He will be greatly missed.”
Brent Laumen, also a construction science student, addressed his friend, writing: “You filled my life with excitement and a joy that only you could provide. James, I will truly miss you. I will never forget you and the amazing impact you had on my life.”
January is survived by his mother, Maria, of Houston, his grandmother, Dorothy January of Austin, uncle Larry January of Houston, aunt and uncle, Sue January and Wayne Chambliss of Austin, cousins Clayton Chambliss and Tony Chambliss of Austin, and numerous family and friends.
January was memorialized at the April 5 Silver Taps ceremony on the Texas A&M campus.
