Former student, builder garners
Bryan Rotary/Newman 10 award

As head of the fourth fastest-growing small business in the Brazos Valley, Keith Ellis ’88, a Texas A&M construction science former student, received a Bryan Rotary/Newman 10 Award at the Bryan Rotary Club’s June 15 lunch meeting.

The awards, which annually recognize the Brazos Valley’s 10 fastest growing small businesses, were created in 1994 by Bryan Rotarians and Newman Printing Company, Inc. in cooperation with the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce and Texas A&M’s Mays Business School. They spotlight successful small businesses for significant contributions and economic impact on the Brazos Valley.

Ellis personally handles all areas of Ellis Custom Homes’ project management, including client consultation, project estimation, trade contractor scheduling and materials acquisition to produce a home that is unique in design, materials and method of construction.

“I have always enjoyed the creativity involved in the building of custom homes,” he said. “Being a part of helping people achieve their dream home is a very satisfying experience.”

Ellis, who relocated the company to his native College Station in 1995 after five years in Houston, said he achieves customer satisfaction primarily through creative problem solving and by never sacrificing quality.

“If you make it a habit to strive for excellence and infuse your dealings with others with integrity and honesty, good things will come your way,” he said.

The builder was recently featured on a segment of The Savvy Homebuyer, a syndicated TV show, where he gave viewers a tour of an Ellis custom home and and talked about the working with clients to build their dream home.
