Kids entering grades 7-9 can get an introduction this summer to the world of computer animation and cinematography during the inaugural VizKids camp, hosted by Texas A&M's Department of Visualization.
Campers will be immersed in hands-on sessions of 3-D character modeling, beginning computer animation, lighting and Google Earth mapping during the July 18-24 camp.
Sessions will be led by Yauger Williams, assistant professor of visualization, Michelle Simms, a Ph.D. student in education, and Master of Visualization students Justus Cook and Austin Hines.
Classes will be further enlivened by presentations from visualization industry professionals; outside of class, campers will experience plenty of fun social activities.
Camp will conclude with an exhibition of projects students have completed throughout the week.
Students will have the opportunity to be immersed in the university experience by residing in campus dormitories and enjoying meals in campus dining halls. In addition to instructional staff, students will be supervised by a full-time camp director and male and female camp counselors.
Tuition for VizKids camp is $600; a limited number of full scholarships for the camp may still be available. For more information about VizKids camp, download the camp flyer in PDF format or e-mail workshops@viz.tamu.edu.
