Participants at the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture’s fall conference in Chicago, “ACADIA 09: reForm(),” will learn about Building Information Modeling in a workshop led, in part, by Texas A&M architecture professor Mark Clayton.
Clayton will co-teach a two-day “Revit®-BIM Teacher’s Workshop” scheduled 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Oct. 20-21 at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), with instructors from the University of Southern California and Autodesk Education Solutions.
The workshop focuses on concepts necessary for reworking academic courses to take advantage of a BIM-enabled, 21st century design process. The content will be delivered as a design charrette in four three-hour segments over two days and will include an introduction to 3-D parametric modeling, BIM, Integrated Project Delivery, and Sustainable Design using Revit Architecture 2010, Ecotect Analysis 2010, AutoCAD 2010 and Navisworks.
Both an introductory track and an advanced track will be available.
At the completion of the workshop, participants will
Through workshops, lectures and an exhibition, conference organizers aim to explore how architects, engineers, artists and designers are using new hardware, and software technologies to transform how buildings and spaces perform, act and operate.
