REDA staying active with
new initiatives, website

A new website created by members of Texas A&M's Real Estate Development Association responds to a challenge from the College of Architecture dean for student groups to innovate with new media to advance their organizations' outreach efforts.

Michael Miller, REDA president, and Patrick Stites, REDA vice-president, unveiled the new site to Jorge Vanegas, dean of the College of Architecture, during an October meeting.

Vanegas applauded REDA’s initiative, endorsing the association’s strategy to expand its membership to a broad range of current and former Aggies, friends of the university, and leaders in the real estate development industry.

“REDA and its members exemplify the leadership skills, professional innovation, and excellence that Aggies bring to Texas and the world," said Vanegas. “If you are thinking real estate development expertise, you can’t go past Texas A&M University.”

The group's new initiatives, detailed on its site, reda.tamu.edu, include:

  • the REDA Guest Speaker Series: real estate leaders presenting public lectures at the college's Wright Gallery;
  • site visits: project tours with leading real estate developers;
  • embracing Aggie heritage through outreach to former students: the site provides a link for former students who are encouraged to update their contact details;
  • the REDA delegation to the ULI/TAMU Real Estate Center Trends Conference: 30 MSLD students were paired with industry mentors at this annual real estate industry conference in Houston resulting from a sponsorship from Forster Ndubisi, head of the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning, and the university's student services office. After the conference, REDA hosted a networking reception for students, former students, industry leaders, and friends of Texas A&M University;
  • REDA outreach to other groups: an invitation for all Aggie real estate network members and Mays Business School Master of Real Estate students to participate in REDA’s program of activities and to link to the REDA site;
  • REDA member profiles: profiles of each REDA member are on the site, for potential employers to access.
