"Forgotten Spaces"

Environmental design senior to
exhibit photos April 4 in Bryan

“Forgotten Spaces,” a photo exhibit by Andrew Pogue, a senior environmental design student at Texas A&M University, will be held 6-10 p.m. April 4 at the House Painting Studio, which is located above the Dollar General Store in downtown Bryan, Texas.

Pogue’s photography empowers forgone spaces and forlorn objects through detail and a carefully chosen perspective. His keen eye finds stagnant things that are past their prime and his photography gives them motion and movement.

This retrospective exhibit revisits Pogue’s photographic endeavors as a student at Texas A&M and includes his “Forgotten Spaces” series.

“Forgotten Spaces grew out of being intrigued by objects and spaces that people leave behind as they move to occupy a new space,” said Pogue. “These environments remind me of a snake's skin left behind, evidence of a very personal use, worn but now neglected and forgotten. I am drawn to the value and beauty in the ordinary objects that left behind.”

“To me it’s not that important where or when the images were taken. It’s the thought that was provoked in me by the place,” he continued. “It becomes about me trying to display these spaces and objects with great care and presenting them in a new way where the viewer is able to see the beauty and value the spaces still hold.”
