Rowlett lecture series featured leaders
of four major professional associations

A first-ever gathering at Texas A&M of the heads of four major professional associations representing disciplines taught in the College of Architecture took place at the 2010 Rowlett Lecture Series April 23.

At the event, hosted by the college's CRS Center at Rudder Auditorium, the four featured guests individually addressed the event's theme, "Leadership in the Built Environment: Challenges and Opportunities."

"It was particularly useful, not just for students and faculty in the college but for the university at large, to develop a better understanding of how four different professions can work together designing and delivering the built environment," said Valerian Miranda, director of the CRS Center for Leadership and Management in the Design and Construction Industry and associate professor of architecture.

The lecture series was endowed in 1979 through a grant from the founders of CRS and Mrs. Virginia Rowlett to bring speakers of national and international significance to the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University.

The original CRS firm, established in 1946 by Rowlett and William W. Caudill, professors of architecture at Texas A&M, became internationally renowned for a number of innovations in architectural practice that today are taken for granted.

The CRS Center's mission is to advance innovation and leadership in the design and construction industry. The center is also the repository of the business archives, slide archives, publications and architectural program library of CRS and its successor firm CRSS.

Industry professionals can register for the lecture for $50 at https://secure.touchnet.com
