Students in graduate programs at Texas A&M’s College of Architecture will be assisted in their development and research aims through participation in the newly endorsed Texas A&M University Postgraduate Built Environment Research Chapter of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building Construction (PGR-CIB).
“Congratulations to the PGR-CIB officers who have worked so diligently in securing this honor,” said chapter advisor José Fernández-Solís, assistant professor of construction science, who praised the chapter’s diversity. “The student chapter has more than 50 members from all college departments.”
CIB strives to provide a global network for international cooperation in research and innovation in building and construction in support of an improved building process and improved performance of the built environment.
Chapters aim at fulfilling the following broad objectives:
Since its establishment in 1953, CIB has become a worldwide network with more than 5000 experts from approximately 500 member organizations active in the research community, education or industry, who cooperate and exchange information in more than 50 CIB commissions, which initiate projects for research and development, organize meetings and produce publications.
CIB is the acronym of the group’s former French name, Conseil International du Bâtiment. After the council adopted its current name, it retained its original acronym.
