Master of Urban Planning students
aiming to help Sealy’s downtown

Students in the Master of Urban Planning program at Texas A&M’s College of Architecture will be studying Sealy’s historic downtown district this fall with the aim of making recommendations to city leaders on how to revitalize its city center.

“Sealy leaders are hoping the study, which kicks off Aug. 1, will shed some light on improvements that can be made to the eight-block downtown district to help lure in guests and new businesses, while keeping Sealy’s small town charm,” reported Ashley Tompkins, managing editor of the Sealy News, in its March 24 issue.

“The project scope of work includes a written report on the eight-block downtown district, evaluation of traffic circulation, pedestrian patterns, landscaping, an assessment of the potential of mixed use, live-work units and suggestions for improving traffic, pedestrian and bicycle movement in the area,” wrote Tompkins.

Sealy is located 50 miles west of Houston on Interstate 10.

Tompkins’ report on the project is available online at www.sealynews.com.
