Department of Visualization graduate student Lauren Simpson needs your vote!
A music video she directed featuring Motion City Soundtrack singing “It Had to be You” is a finalist in the Best Video category in mtvU’s Woodie Awards 2008.

Simpson was chosen to direct the video in 2007 after winning a nationwide contest sponsored by mtvU. She said she entered the contest on a whim and was thrilled and surprised she won.
Simpson and fellow visualization sciences students Igor Kraguljac and Michael Losure were flown to Minnesota and had just a few days to scout a location and shoot the live-action portions of the video. They worked in a state-of-the-art-studio with a professional crew and had a $10,000 budget from mtvU to spend on the production.
“It Had to be You” is competing against videos featuring Gnarls Barkley, Erykah Badu, Vampire Weekend and Adele.
