The Texas A&M College of Architecture’s 2007 Solar Decathlon groHome appeared in the July/August 2008 issue of Texas Architect, along with a short article by Pliny Fisk, professor of architecture and landscape architecture.
Fisk, who was the Solar D team’s lead advisor, wrote about the need for the decathlon’s project entries to be adaptable to various sites around the globe, in order to match the worldwide interest in the contest.
“We recently had a chance to test the project's adaptability when the house was reassembled at a temporary location at the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station,” he wrote. “We are finding that the buzzwords ‘plug and play’ and ‘adaptability’ have their challenges, specifically in the areas of joints and seals.”
