Freedom From Terrorism memorial
dedicated on Texas A&M campus

Aggies lost in the struggle against terrorism and those who continue to keep America safe were honored at an Oct. 17 ceremony dedicating the Texas A&M University Freedom From Terrorism Memorial, which was designed by four graduate students at Texas A&M’s College of Architecture.

The memorial, a gift to the university from the Texas A&M classes of ’68 and ’03, was designed by Jorge Martinez, David McMillin, Hernan Molina, and Mariano Ortiz. All but McMillin, who works at an architecture firm in San Francisco, attended the ceremony.

"Friday (Oct. 17) was the first time the design team saw the project since construction began. We didn't know how it was going to turn out, but I think it's great, and everyone's really excited about it," Ortiz told Jill Beathard of The Battalion.

Beathard’s Battalion story about the memorial dedication can be accessed online at the Battalion website.
