Oscar Muñoz, deputy director for the College of Architecture’s Center for Housing and Urban Development, introduces a video examining Texas A&M’s role in providing water filters for colonia residents in Texas.
The Center’s Colonias program implements solutions that reduce the isolation of the impoverished residents of colonias along the Texas-Mexico border and helps them become full participants in the U.S. economy and society.
“Imagine half-a-million people that do not have utilities, do not have paved roads, that do not have housing that’s up to code,” said Muñoz in the video.
“Those are the people we work with every single day.”
