Grad students earn facility
management scholarships

 

Five graduate students who are currently pursuing graduate certificates in facility management at the Texas A&M College of Architecture recently earned scholarships from the International Facility Management Association, as well as complimentary travel/attendance packages for the IFMA’s October 2011 conference in Phoenix.

Receiving the scholarships are construction management students Patrick Daniels, Salil Jawadekar and David Stempler and architecture students Manish Dixit and Ying Yang.

“This is the largest number of students from Texas A&M recognized in a single year by IFMA for their excellence in studying facility management,” said Sarel Lavy, associate director of the CRS Center for Leadership and Management in the Design and Construction Industry, which manages the facility management graduate certification program for the College of Architecture. Lavy is also ana ssistant professor of construction science.

Students vying for the IFMA scholarships were asked to detail their achievements and organizational involvement, submit a letter of professional intent, resume and an employer/faculty letter of recommendation.

The IFMA awarded a total of $15,000 in scholarships to the five students, ion individual amounts varying from $5,000 to $2,000.
