A former Texas A&M architecture student, who designed and built the second tower in the Langford Architecture Center atrium currently honoring a deceased professor, is selling his paintings and sculptures online.
Ivan Farr, who earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree from Texas A&M in 2009, said the posting of his work marked his official entry into the Houston art scene.
Farr's multimedia work was on display at the Wright Gallery during the spring 2009 semester in a show called "Higher Ground" that featured his sculpture, photography and painting. He is currently working in Houston at HOK, a global architectural design and services firm.
His tower was erected at the College of Architecture June 2009 to honor Alan Stacell, a former professor of architecture of Texas A&M, who taught architecture for 40 years before his death from cancer in 2001.
The piece replaced the site's original tower honoring Stacell, a structure designed by former student Patrick Winn, that stood for 6½ years but was dismantled in July 2008 due to structural concerns.
