Students mark Earth Day with
balloons, booth at Rudder event

Several College of Architecture student groups joined forces to take the college’s Maroon is Green Sustainable College Initiative campuswide, manning an informational booth on Rudder Plaza during the April 22 Earth Day celebration sponsored by the Texas A&M Environmental Issues Committee.

Meanwhile, back at the Langford Architecture Center, Earth Day was marked as students and staff festooned the Langford A atrium with 100 giant helium balloons — some green and others resembling the planet Earth.

Joining forces for the Maroon is Green exhibit on Rudder Plaza were Aggie chapters of the

  • American Institute of Architecture Students,
  • American Society of Landscape Architects,
  • Student Health Environments Association,
  • Postgraduate Built Environment Research Chapter of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building Construction, and
  • Emerging Green Builders.
The Maroon is Green Sustainable College Initiative was launched with a collegewide fair on Earth Day 2008 to promote sustainable living throughout the college and throughout the year.
