AIAS aids Habitat for Humanity
at annual Shack-a-thon event

Bright, airy, and distinctive, the Texas A&M American Institute of Architecture Students’ entry in Shack-a-thon, a fundraiser for the Aggie chapter of Habitat for Humanity, stood out among the other student-made structures.

Built of bamboo and sheets of clear and opaque plastic, it provided a comfortable gathering place for visitors at its location among the other shacks at Rudder Plaza.

The annual event, which took place March 30 – April 3, raised funds to build one Habitat home in the Bryan-College Station area.

The AIAS shack was part of a temporary shantytown erected on Rudder Plaza, where Guitar Hero contests, an extreme foursquare tournament and live music were part of the scene.
