Committee formed to resume search for
Texas A&M College of Architecture dean

The national search for a new dean to lead the Texas A&M College of Architecture resumed in November with the formation of an advisory committee chaired by Luis A. Cifuentes, interim vice provost.

The 17-member committee includes seven college faculty members who were selected using standardized balloting process, according to an Oct. 31 announcement from Jeffery S. Vitter, provost and executive vice president of the university. The other at-large committee members — three additional faculty representatives, a current student, a former student, a college staff representative, a representative from the Texas A&M Foundation and an external faculty member — were appointed by Vitter.

The search committee members are:

  • Sam Brody, associate professor, Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning;
  • Ifte Choudhury, associate professor, Department of Construction Science;
  • Mark Clayton, professor, Department of Architecture;
  • Debra Ellis, senior lecturer, Department of Construction Science;

  • Duane Ireland, Distinguished Professor, Department of Management, Mays Business School;
  • Julie Krebs, graduate student, Department of Architecture;
  • Carol LaFayette, associate professor, Department of Visualization Sciences;

  • Jim Palincsar, senior vice president for development, Texas A&M Foundation;

  • Phillip Rollfing, director of communications and public relations, College of Architecture;
  • Mardelle Shepley, professor, Department of Architecture, director of the Center for Health Systems & Design;
  • Ron Skaggs, ‛65, chairman emeritus, HKS Inc.;
  • David Woodcock, professor, Department of Architecture, and

Students, faculty, staff and friends of the college are invited to submit names of qualified candidates for the committee’s consideration to the committee chair, Luis A. Cifuentes at arcdeansearch@tamu.edu. The committee asks that name submissions include current contact information for the proposed candidate.
