1978 A&M landscape architecture graduate named
president-elect of Association of Former Students

 

Shelley E. Potter of Dallas, a summa cum laude graduate who earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Texas A&M University in 1978, is currently serving as president-elect of the Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University.

She, and the other new members of the organization's 2008 board of directors, were elected at a fall Leadership Council meeting.

Potter is a landscape architect in association with Jeff Potter Architects. She is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and has served on numerous civic boards, including the Longview Planning & Zoning Commission and Smart Growth Task Force.

Retired Air Force General Hal M. Hornburg of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas was elected 2008 president. The other new board members are David A. Heath of Beaverton, Oregon, and Austin; Scott M. Kleberg of Fort Worth; and Jennifer S. Lindsay of San Francisco, Calif.
 
Hornburg is the former commander of the Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. While commander, he was responsible for more than 1,000 aircraft and 100,000 active-duty military and civilian members. Hornburg was also an Air Force liaison officer to the U.S. Senate and chief of the Air Force Colonels’ Group. Now retired from the U.S. Air Force, Hornburg works as a consultant. Hornburg graduated from Texas A&M University in 1968 with a degree in finance.
 
Heath received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University in health and physical education. He completed his bachelor’s degree cum laude in 1976 and later became head trainer for all varsity sports at Texas A&M. He is now the vice president of global sales for Nike and is responsible for more than $14 billion in sales revenue.
 
Kleberg is a principal and co-manager of CA Partners, an investment firm specializing in the hedge fund asset class. He is also the president and founding principal of Private Equity Partners in Fort Worth. Kleberg gradated from Texas A&M University in 1980 with a degree in range science. He went on to receive a master’s degree in management from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
 
Lindsay is a principal with KPMG and leads the forensic practice in KPMG’s Silicon Valley office in Mountain View, Calif. She advises clients in the electronics and software industries regarding regulatory compliance and assists them in mitigating and investigating fraud and misconduct. Lindsay graduated from Texas A&M University in 1989 with two bachelor’s degrees, in economics and aerospace engineering. She earned her master’s degree in economics from Stanford University in 1992. 
 
The Association of Former Students, established in 1879, is the official alumni organization of Texas A&M University.
