Josh Binger, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in Construction Management in summer 2007, joined two teammates to capture a gold medal for the USA in the Compound Men's Team category in the Meteksan Archery World Cup tournament in Dover, England in July 2007.
"Being here in Dover has been quite the thing," reported Binger during the tournament. The event's opening ceremonies took place at Dover Castle, which dates back to the 12th century and was used as a crucial command base for the Allies during World War II.
Binger and the Americans got past the host team from Great Britain with a round of 228 points out of a possible 240 in the gold medal match.
"I struggled in the individual competition so I wanted to put in a good team performance," he said. "I made some mental and technical adjustments and I shot really well."
Binger and his teammates were able to beat the Brits despite their home field advantage.
"Hearing the crowd behind the Great Britain team was great," he said, "but it also got us pumped up too."
