In recognition of her work as an educator and researcher, Byoung-Suk Kweon, associate professor of landscape architecture and urban planning at Texas A&M University, was given an Award of Recognition from the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA).
“Dr. Kweon is uniquely qualified to receive this award because she has achieved the academic ideal of integrated teaching and research so seamlessly that they are inseparable parts of her daily work,” wrote Nancy Volkman, associate professor of landscape architecture and urban planning, in a letter nominating her colleague for this prestigious honor.
Kweon holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, a master of landscape architecture from Cornell University and bachelor’s degrees from The City University of New York and the University of Seoul. Her scholarly interests include the physical, social and psychological effect of urban green spaces, and social and psychological aspects of ecological restoration.
