The cover story in the Sept. 2004 issue of Health Facilities
Design magazine featured research by Texas A&M architecture
professor Roger Ulrich on the effect of hospital noise on patient
recovery. When the story was published, Ulrich had recently spent
about six months researching evidence-based design for the Center
for Health Design. He analyzed a scientific studies focused on
noise and patient outcomes, which provided proof that patients
and staff do better in quiet settings.
