A paper examining metropolitan planning in Madrid, Spain, authored
by Michael Neuman, associate professor of urban planning at Texas
A&M University, was named the Best Article of the Year 2005
by European Planning Studies (EPS), the leading scholarly journal
on urban planning in Europe.
Neuman’s paper, “The Planning Dialectic of Continuity
and Change: The Evolution of Metropolitan Planning in Madrid,” was
selected from 63 articles.
The EPS honor marked Neuman’s second “best paper” award.
In 1999, his paper, “Does Planning Need the Plan?,” earned
best paper honors from the Journal of the American Planning Association.”
